What is roleplaying?
Roleplaying at its most basic is creating a character and then attempting to play the role of that character in a
setting agreed upon by the group. There is usually one person in the group who acts as the Game Master (GM) who
controls the setting, the overall plot, and characters that are not belonging to one of the members of the group.
It can involve dice to determine the outcome of events, but many diceless systems exist. Roleplaying games may
be played over a number of mediums, from in-person to online through email, chat room or message board.
PBEM Sim Group Sites were diceless roleplaying games played via e-mail groups which ran between 1995-2002 and were
among the first site designs created here at Talisan Creations.
